Chris Jericho: No Pipe Bomb Needed.

In December we started to see the cryptic “It Begins” videos interrupting weekly broadcast of Monday Night Raw. Speculation began to run rampant as to who would be returning to WWE. From the minute these videos started I had my heart set on it being Chris Jericho. The “Wrestling Fan” in me wanted it to be Y2J so bad but the smart fan in me knew better than to get my hopes up that one of my all time favorites would be back in time for Wrestlemania.  Having conversed with some of our readers and reading reports of Jericho being sited in the Memphis area the day of RAW I just new Y2J was coming back.

Just like everyone else I marked out big time once his music hit and we saw that all to familiar pose, illuminated by a bright blue LED jacket. About 2 minutes into his return I had a sense this was going a different direction quick. I watched as Jericho played off the crowd while still not saying a word. Part of me was expecting him, in pure Jericho Heel form, to walk back to the top of the ramp and start screaming “YOU ALL FELL FOR IT!” Having it be a one night return just to piss us off. Thank God that wasnt the case. Than next week he came out having his “emotional moment” A trend we will most likely see to continue tonight and in the coming weeks. The style of this return was a hybrid of the blue “Matrix Code”  used in his 2007 return mixed with an eerie feel often reserved for Undertaker Promos.

Now with Jericho playing us the way only he can do I have still have some theories about some of the messages in these promos and would like to share the two I feel are the most important. I will list the promos here for those of you who missed out out them or are looking for a solid transcript look no further.

Promo 1: “Come my people and shut thy doors about thee. For a power should come to punish the meek for their inequity. For on the second day of 2012 a familiar force shall arrive to claim what is his and it will be the end of the world as you know it.”

Promo 2: “The Power cometh is a thief in the night to claim what others have taken. those who are unjust, destruction will come upon them and they shall not escape. The 2nd day of 2012 is coming and it will be the end of the world as you know it.”

Promo 3: “Behold the power will come with vengeance to render his anger with fury. The deception the weak have perpetrated will be castigated. The 2nd day of 2012 the prophet will emerge and destroy the weak. It will be the end of the world as you know it.”

Promo 4: “As he sit upon the mount the question arose. When shall things be and what shall be the sign of my coming? He answered… “When she tells us, she holds the mystery of my arrival and my rebirth. For when I beckon her I will return to claim what is mine and things shall never be the same again”. On the 2nd day of 2012 it shall be the end of the world as you know it.”

Promo 5: “I cannot help you anymore. Do you understand?

Promo 6: “The force shall arrive to reclaim what is his. Powers that be will be shaken. The force shall arrive…the force shall arrive. Do you understand?”

In most of these early promos you can see the hints that could lead up to a CM Punk vs Chris Jericho feud most likely for The WWE Championship and “Best in The World” moniker. It wasnt until Promo 4 that I really and I mean really started to believe it would be Jericho. A lot of people thought that the “she” that is refereed to could have been The Undertaker’s motorcycle (which was my 2nd choice as well) and we would get The American Bad-ass version of The Undertkaer back. In the “Breaking the Code: Behind the Walls of Chris Jericho” documentary, Jericho states that when he returns he likes to redefine his character whenever he can. That there was enough for me to think about the “rebirth” referenced in that promo.

This brings me to my other point I have from the promos. The”She” that is refereed to here I believe is The WWE Championship. It was the one thing that Chris Jericho did not get during his last run with the company and I believe it is what has “beckoned his return”. The fact that CM Punk did take the “Best in The World” label and made it as popular as he did over the summer, well I’m sure that was enough to get Y2J’s attention. How many times did we hear Jericho calmly tell us “I am The Best in The World at What I Do?” during 2009 and 2010? One thing is for sure Chris Jericho is doing what he always does best though and that’s entertain us. The funny thing is he hasn’t even spoken one word yet so how can this not lead to a great feud with “The Voice of The Voiceless”

I’m sure in the coming months both CM Punk and Chris Jericho will make us remember why we are fans of WWE by doing what they do best… wrestling their asses off!

I know you’re used to very longwinded comments from me, but in honor of Jericho’s [lack of] promos lately, I’ll just say this:
