Apparently someone at WWE has a serious issue with understanding what the 25th anniversary of something is.  It happened with Wrestlemania and it’s happening again with Summerlsam.

Not too hard, WWE…lemme break it down for you.

This is the 25th Summerslam.  Not the 25th Anniversary of the original Summerslam, because, shockingly enough, the first Summerslam happened only 24 years ago (in 1988).  Next year will be the actual 25th Anniversary of Summerslam, just as Wrestlemania 26 was technically the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania.

Seriously, 25 installments of a yearly PPV event is a big enough thing in and of itself.  There’s no reason to try to gussy it up any further, just by adding more words to it that anyone with a slight understanding of the passage of time understands.  Just celebrate it as the 25th Summerslam.  That’s pretty huge.  Then, next year, either refer to it as the 26th Summerslam, or just refer to it as Summerslam by itself.

That being said, I’m really looking forward to just copying and pasting this article and rearranging some words when Wrestlemania 30 and Summerslam 2018 roll around…
