So here we are at Wrestlemania 29! This year marks the 2nd Wrestlemania during the life of Kick Out at 2! and this has been a pretty good year for our site as well as other wrestling enthusiast that we have met both in life and on the web. This year we added to the group we watch PPV’s with. We’ve introduced new friends to wrestling and took joy in seeing others returning to the world they hadn’t been a part of in a long time. With a year of anticipation leading up to Wrestlemania let’s take a look at our predictions for this year’s “Showcase of The Immortals”

WWE Championship Match: The Rock vs John Cena

Robbie’s Pick: The Rock – As soon as John Cena’s shoulders were pinned cleanly to the mat at the end of the “Once in a Lifetime” match last year we all knew that the tag line used to promote this match was simply bogus. Last year I picked The Rock from the moment their match was made official and I never wavered in my prediction that The Rock would defeat the new name and face of the company. As happy as I was to see Rocky win last year I wasn’t in a hurry to see him fight Cena again, even though we all knew it would happen. This year I have the same feeling that he will walk out victorious, this time with the WWE Championship in hand. Cena will probably take it next month at Extreme Rules. I make this call based on the fact I do not want The Rock to be a transitional champion. If The Rock drops the title at Wrestlemania he will have been Champion for 70 Days. If he loses it at Extreme Rules it will have been a 112 Championship reign. For me it makes more sense for The Rock to retain for the sake of the WWE Championship itself and the credibility that CM Punk restored to the title.

Shane’s Pick: John Cena – “Twice in a Lifetime” but back to the “Same old crap” on April 8th.

Derick’s Pick: John Cena – It hurt to write that, it really did. The “Twice in a Lifetime” match is one that we here at KO@2 have seen since over a year ago. It has been inevitable since last year. The proverbial “torch” gets passed and that’s it. We get promos of happy Cena again. And the crowd goes…mild.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Alberto Del Rio vs Jack Swagger

Robbie’s Pick: Alberto Del Rio – I see Alberto fighting a long hard fight but ultimately coming out victorious with a clean pin or submission. Hopefully after this match Dolph decides he will cash in and walk out of Wrestlemania the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Shane’s Pick: Alberto Del Rio – And here’s where Swagger’s drug bust gets the better of him and sends him into derailment.  I’m certain this match is the only reason he wasn’t sent home for a while immediately after it happened.  I figure a hard fought victory leaving ADR hurting…so that we can finally get Dolph’s cash in!

Derick’s Pick: Alberto Del Rio – Swagger’s character isn’t working. His catchphrase isn’t working. His promos sound flat. The only thing great about him is Dutch Mantel. Sadly, I don’t care about this match at all. I’d rather watch JBL throw trash cans at Hornswoggle again. PLEASE DOLPH, I BEG YOU. NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO DO THIS!!!!

The Undertaker vs CM Punk

Robbie’s Pick: The Undertaker – Every fiber of my being wants me to pick CM Punk but due to tradition I have to go with The Undertaker. However, for the first time in the history of The Undertaker’s legendary streak this is the first year I could logically see it coming to an end. If you read my previous article you will understand the reason behind why I say this. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out.

Shane’s Pick: The Undertaker – Apparently I’m the odd one out in our Ko@2 bunch because I never doubted this one for a second…and I carry the CM Punk banner higher than anyone on this staff, I would argue.  You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, and you don’t beat Taker at Mania.

Derick’s Pick: The Undertaker – Up until the death of Paul Bearer, I was 100% behind Punk breaking the streak. And it would have been awesome. But I just don’t see it. Not now anyways. I think ‘Taker gets the emotional win and goes back to wherever he goes for 9 months. I’m 51% Deadman and 49% CM Punk as of this moment so I gotta go ‘Taker.

Triple H w/ Shawn Michaels vs. Brock Lesnar – No Holds Barred Match

Robbie’s Pick: Triple H –Even though I could kinda see him calling it quits in the same manner as his mentor Ric Flair and his best friend Shawn Michaels I don’t see it happening just yet. Honestly Hunter will probably hanging around for a few more years, especially with their lack of full time top superstars. Initially once I heard that there was going to be a stipulation added to this match I hoped it would have been something along the lines of, if Triple H lost he would hand over all COO duties to Paul Heyman and return to being a full time competitor. That would an been an awesome scenario to see play out but this year I think Triple H adds a win to his Wrestlemania record.

Shane’s Pick: Triple H – They haven’t been exactly using Brock wisely for the last year, so why start now?  Plus, I truly feel that when HHH calls it quits, he’ll mean it, and that’s not something that happens with 2 weeks buildup.

Derick’s Pick: Triple H – When this match started coming together, the teenager in me was doing backflips. Triple H pulls out a win in what I guarantee will be a brutal match. “He’s not just trying to hurt the man – he’s out to end his career!” will be said. And it’ll be so literal!!!

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston

Robbie’s Pick: Kane & Daniel Bryan – This match is here to throw us off. I really think they want us to try to forget about Dolph by throwing him in the mix of all these Superstars until we see him again later that night. I see Dolph and Big E. losing here only for Dolph to steal the spotlight later on.

Shane’s Pick: Dolph Zigger & Big E Langston – I’m calling double gold for Ziggler coming out of Wrestlemania!

Derick’s Pick: Kane & Daniel Bryan – This is the last time I pick Kane/Bryan. I want Daniel Bryan on his own, badly. They had a good run. Time for Kane to set people on fire alone, and Bryan to make people tap. And I want a feud between Ziggler and Bryan. And pancakes. And beer. But not simultaneously. AND, I don’t see Black Lesnar lasting. He looks too much like Carlton Banks.

Randy Orton, Sheamus & Big Show vs. The Shield

Robbie’s Pick: The Shield – I look for Randy Orton and Big Show do a double turn. Show goes face and looks to have things won only to be betrayed by taking an RKO from Orton. I don’t see Orton aligning himself with The Shield afterwards but than again as an Orton fan it wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen to him.

Shane’s Pick: The Super Friends – Yeah, this is going to happen no matter how much I fight and scream and kick.

Derick’s Pick: The Shield – Why is Orton, Sheamus, and Show a team? Hell, I dunno. Why do little leprechauns live under the ring? Why are there always weapons under there too?!? And smoke billows out all the time. Don’t they see this stuff under the ring when it’s taken down? I guess they don’t care. Doesn’t seem safe. Oh, this match? Eh.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Wade Barrett vs The Miz

Robbie’s Pick: The Miz – A few months back The Miz was in a decent feud with Antonio Cesaro for the United Championship. I originally envisioned this leading into Wrestlemania with Ric Flair in the corner The Miz. If Flair’s health and recent passing of his son were not an issue I could have seen him being there to support The Miz allowing for a “feel good” Wrestlemania moment. The fact this feud with Barrett was quickly thrown together then bumped to the pre-show almost guarantees no Flair involvement in this match.

Shane’s Pick: Miz – This is happening?  Was there build up?  Did I skip past it?  Where’s Cesaro?!

Derick’s Pick: Wade Barrett – Ugh… I like watching this storyline. BUT, I like watching paint dry. This match feels more thrown together than the Divas battle royal @ WM 25. And that was crap. Much like this is crap. 100 lbs. of crap. 5 feet of crap. Hang on, my phone is ringing. It’s crap, says he knows this match. Oh, You remember when Cody Rhodes made the IC title relevant again? Well, this ruined it.

Ryback vs Mark Henry

Robbie’s Pick: Ryback – Simply because I want to see if Ryback can do “Shell Shock” to Mark Henry. I like both these guys but I see the 15 Year veteran Mark Henry giving Ryback a massive victory at Mania. I’d like to see this continue a while longer or like Derick said lead to an ultimate team up opportunity down the road.

Shane’s Pick: Ryback – This is the match I’m most waiting to read Holzerman’s writeup about on Monday.  Hoss fight!

Derick’s Pick: Ryback – I wrote in my article as to why Ryback wins earlier this week. I don’t want to type it again. Plus I’m too busy thinking of them as a tag team. “Somebody’s gonna feed more!! Meat on the table getting they ass kicked!!”

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango

Robbie’s Pick: Fandango – Every since JBL had talked about him on his show I had been intrigued, wondering how this character would manifest. I admit I rolled my eyes once I saw this playing out the way it was but once Jericho was involved my mindset changed. Honestly, I see this match surprising us all. Jericho wouldn’t agree to work this match if he didn’t see something in the new talent. With JBL and Y2J backing him up the pressure is on Fandango to impress us.

Shane’s Pick: Fandango – Putting over the new guy is what Jericho does now…and he’ll do amazing at it.  Plus, one does not simply debut at Wrestlemania and look like a chump.

Derick’s Pick: Fandango –  If they don’t do something with this crap quick, I’m over it. I already don’t like it. Stupid! Either make Fandango work, or send him back. Poor Jericho. He’s been used better.

Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls vs. Team Rhodes Scholars & The Bella Twins

Robbie’s Pick: Team Rhodes Scholars & The Bella Twins – The Bella Twins are back and I don’t see them losing in their return. It appears as though Rhodes Scholars are likely to remain as a Tag Team and hopefully Tag Team Gold is in their near future.

Shane’s Pick: Team Heels – Yeah, I’m not writing that out.  Yes, I just realized that I could have copy and pasted from someone else’s post.  Shut up!

Derick’s Pick: Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls –  And I don’t need a damn explanation!!! I love Brodus Clay. He follows me on twitter. And you people can hate all day. Jerks.

  1. BEF says:

Woo Haa!!! I like the personal thoughts in the reasoning for the predictions, and it’s good to know that right at this moment I’m not a jerk ha ha ha. Funky!
